约押

约押说，我不能与你留连。

Then said Joab , I may not tarry thus with thee .

押沙龙立亚玛撒作元帅代替约押。

约押前行，刀从鞘内掉出来。

As he stepped forward , it dropped out of its sheath .

我何必杀你呢。若杀你，有什么脸见你哥哥约押呢。

How then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother ?

于是约押将当说的话教导了妇人。

So Joab put the words in her mouth .

若杀你，有什麽脸见你哥哥约押呢？

How then could I lift up my face to your brother Joab ?

约押回耶路撒冷，到王那里。

And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king .

约押左手拾起刀来，对亚玛撒说，我兄弟，你好阿。

And Joab said to Amasa , Art thou in health , my brother ?

约押和他兄弟亚比筛往前追赶比基利的儿子示巴。

So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri .

约押就离开亚扪人那里，回耶路撒冷去了。

So Joab returned from the children of Ammon , and came to Jerusalem .

洗鲁雅的儿子约押先上去，就作了元帅。

So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up , and was chief .

约押攻打拉巴将城倾覆。

And Joab struck Rabbah and overthrew it .

洗鲁雅的儿子约押的兄弟亚比筛是这三个勇士的首领。

Abishai the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the three .

比拿雅就去回覆王，说约押如此如此回答我。

Benaiah reported to the king , 'This is how Joab answered me . '

大卫差人到约押那里，说，你打发赫人乌利亚到我这里来。

And David sent to Joab , saying , Send me Uriah the Hittite .

于是约押起身往基述去，将押沙龙带回耶路撒冷。

So Joab arose and went to Geshur , and brought Absalom to Jerusalem .

押尼珥呼叫约押说，刀剑岂可永远吞灭人么？

And Abner called out to Joab and said , shall the sword devour forever ?

约押去见王说，你这是作什么呢。

Then Joab came to the king , and said , What hast thou done ?

约押就打发乌利亚去见大卫。

And Joab sent Uriah to David .

约押就回耶路撒冷去了。

So Joab went back to Jerusalem .

次日早晨，大卫写信与约押，交乌利亚随手带去。

Now in the morning , David gave Uriah a letter to take to joab .

约押攻取亚扪人的京城拉巴。

And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon , and took the royal city .

故此，流这二人血的罪必归到约押和他后裔的头上，直到永远。

May the guilt of their blood rest on the head of Joab and his descendants forever .

约押就近前来，妇人问他说，你是约押不是。

And when he was come near unto her , the woman said , Art thou Joab ?

王说，你这些话莫非是约押的主意吗。

And the king said , Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this ?

约押这麽做可能是为了讨好大卫，也使押沙龙欠他一个人情。

He probably did this in order to be favoured by David and to obligate Abasalom to him .

他们的姐妹是洗鲁雅和亚比该。洗鲁雅的儿子是亚比筛，约押，亚撒黑，共三人。

Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail . Zeruiah 's three sons were Abishai , Joab and Asahel .

押尼珥对约押说，让少年人起来，在我们面前戏耍吧。

And Abner said to Joab , Let the young men now arise , and play before us .

大卫听见了，就差派约押统带勇猛的全军出去。

When David heard of it , he sent Joab and all the army of the mighty men .
