    As a typical bifunctional gene , AIF ( apoptosis-inducing factor ) described as a regulatory molecule of MRC ( Mitochondrial Respiration Chain ) in the physiological state , while in pathological condition it function as a death inducer involving in caspase-independent PCD ( Programmed Cell Death ) .

    CONCLUSION : The Portulaca water extract has the protective effect on myocardial mitochondria by inhibiting the lipid peroxidation in myocardial mitochondria and enhancing the activities of respiratory chain enzymes .
