采用临床对照试验观察口服β－胡萝卜素治疗红细胞生成性原卟啉病的光敏反应，治疗组33例，显效率为60%，总有效率100%。
In a controlled clinical study , oral β - carotene was used to reduce the severity of photosensitivity reactions in patients with erythropoietic protoporphyria . Out of 33 cases treated with β - carotene , 60 % showed significant response , and total response rate was 100 % .
