该区的史前堆积主要是庙底沟文化遗存和半坡四期文化遗存。
Main deposit in the southern district were Miaodigou Cultural and Phase IV of Banpo Cultural remains .

遗址北高南低，南部多为半坡四期文化居民聚居区，而北部则是庙底沟文化的聚居区。
Landscape are lower in the south and higher in the north , which Phase IV of Banpo Culture community was in the south and the Miaodigou Culture residents was in the north .

横向对比分析垣曲盆地与临汾盆地相关遗址陶片的化学成分，显示出在庙底沟二期文化时期两盆地间的陶土成分明显不同。
In addition , through the horizontal comparison about the chemical composition of pottery between relative sites in Yuanqu basin and Linfen basin , it demonstrates that there is obvious difference in Miaodigou ⅱ culture period .
