Sent home , Guocheng had trouble speaking , was quick to anger and repeatedly smashed windows in the family 's home , recalls Yanxu .

Wang Guocheng started showing signs of mental illness at about the age of21 , when he was a soldier stationed in Inner Mongolia , according to his77-year-old father , Wang Yanxu .

Yanxu says that his son didn 't mean to kill the woman and had mistaken her for another person , who Yanxu says had beaten Guocheng for stealing a rose from a garden .

王彦许说，他儿子不是想杀那个女人，而是认错了人，把她当成了另一个人，那个人因为王国成从他家园子里偷了株花而打了他一顿。
