The test results reveal that the improved product has better compatibility , dispersancy and detergency at elevated temperature than the conventional calcium alkylsalicylate ( T109 ), it can be widely used in diesel engine oil .

The reasons of precipitation formation after mixing alkyl salicylates ( T109 ) and alkyl benzene sulfonates ( T106 ) were discussed . The structure schematic formula as well as colloidal and micellar shape of different base number alkyl salicylates and alkyl benzene sulfonates were given .
