This paper is devoted to develop an expert system to manage the fault isolation and maintenance knowledge of the engine indication and crew alerting system ( EICAS ) .

Once a fault symptom indicated by the EICAS is input , by inferring step by step , the expert system can locate it in the engine and provide some homologous constructive maintenance advice .
