盆内主要充填白垩系及第三系，其中下白垩统分为鸡西群和桦山群，主要含煤层系鸡西群是油气勘探的目的层。
It is mainly filled with Cretaceous and Tertiary sediments , and Lower Cretaceous is divided into Jixi and Huashan Groups , with the main coal bearing series Jixi Group being also a target for petroleum exploration .
