One day the met Zhuang Zi and said proudly :

一天，他见到庄子，得意洋洋地说：

Zhuang Zhou 's family was poor .

庄周家境贫穷。

Zhuang Zi calmly told Hui Zi a story :

庄子心平气和地给惠子讲了一个小故事：

Hearing the driver 's reply , Zhuang Gong smiled to himself and remained silent3 .

听了车夫的回答，庄公暗自发笑，默默无语。

When Zhuang Zi heard this , he gave a snort of contempt and said sarcastically4 :

庄子听了，嗤之以鼻，讽刺他说：

One day , Zhuang Gong , King of the State of Qi , went out in a chariot to hunt .

一天，齐庄公乘车外出打猎。

Zhuang Gong of Qi was curious and asked the driver : " What kind of insect is it ? "

齐庄公很好奇，就问车夫：“这是什么虫子？”

Zhuang Zi said , " The fish is swimming freely and unhurriedly in the water . What a pleasure ! "

庄子说：“鯈鱼从容自在地在水中游玩，这真是鱼的快乐呀！”

After hearing this , Hui Zi nodded repeatedly and admitted that Zhuang Zi was wiser than he .

惠子听了连连点头，承认庄子比自己高明。

Zhuang zi said , " You are not me , and how could you know that I can 't tell whether the fish is joyous or not ? "

庄子说：“你又不是鱼，你怎么会知道我不懂得鱼的快乐呢？”

Zhuang Zi retorted : " The actual situation is not like what you said . In fact , there are very few Confucian scholars in the State of Lu . "

庄子反驳说：“情况不是您说的那样，事实上儒生在鲁国很少。”

Hui Zi couldn 't wait for Zhuang Zi to finish to ask : " You feel it is a pity , then what would you use it for ? "

惠子不等庄子把话说完，抢着问道：“您觉得可惜，您想用它做什么呢？”

When Zhuang Zi heard this , he felt very sorry and said : " It 's really a pity that you smashed such a good gourd so rashly . "

庄子听了，十分惋惜地说：“您这样轻易地把这么好的葫芦打碎了，实在是太可惜了。”

Zhuang Zi said , " When you said ' How could you know that the fish was joyous . ' So I know the fish is joyous , and I know this on the Haoshui River . "

庄子说：“你说‘你怎么会知道鱼的快乐呢’的时候，表面你已经肯定了我知道鱼的快乐。所以我是知道鱼快乐的，我是在濠水之上知道鱼快乐的呀！”

Zhuang Zi said : " The State of Lu is the native place of Confucianism , but there is only one Confucian scholar . How can you say that there are many Confucian scholars in the State of Lu ? "

庄子说：“鲁国是儒家的故乡，但是只有一名儒生。这怎么能说鲁国儒生很多呢？”

When Zhuang Zhou heard this , he was so angry that the colow of his face changed . But he told the official this story : When I came here yesterday , on the way I heard a voice calling ' Help ! '

庄周一听，气得脸色都变了，但是他却对监河侯讲了这样一件事情：我昨天来时，半路上听到‘救命’的呼喊声。

He went to visit Zhuang Zi complacently3 , and boasted , " To convince the king of the powerful country , accomplish the mission assigned by the king of homeland , and to be followed by hundreds of carriages is my strongpoint . "

曹商满脸得意地去见庄子，并夸耀到：“说服大王国君，不辱本国国君主的使命，跟随的马车有百辆之多，这是我的长处。”

Zhuang Zi continued : " The man who got the prescription felt as if he had gotten 1000 pieces of gold . He went to the King of Wu to sell this idea . " At the time , the State of Yue invaded the state of Wu .

庄子接着说：“那个人得了秘方，像得了千金宝贝，就取去游说吴王。这时，越国侵犯吴国，吴王便派他去带兵迎战。”
